Gregory Eastham took part in the U12 category in the first round of the Southern XC Mountain Bike series at Checkendon, South Oxfordshire on Sunday 29th April. The twisting off-road course included a technical woodland section and open but draggy uphill grind across a grassy field.
With over 40 riders taking the start, it was a frantic and fast race. Gregory held on well, picking up the places through the technical sections but finding the going tough across the open field. He crossed the line in 23rd place having covered 7 laps in the 20 minutes of fast racing. Well done Gregory! Not bad for his first ever MTB XC event. The next round is much closer to home, on Sunday 27th May at Crow Hill, near Ringwood. Good luck!
