Louisa and Andy Cooper’s spectacular form continues. This time knocking 7 minutes off the BJW 30M Mixed Tandem club record on the A30/9 just outside Derby on Saturday (16th June). In Louisa’s own words…
“We decided to enter this event as the course has the reputation of being fairly fast and flat which is perfect for the tandem.
“Unfortunately the course was changed due to roadworks and we ended up negotiating 12 roundabouts which had a bit of an impact on the average speed. It was a gusty day but we pushed hard on the flats and managed to finish with an average speed of 29.4mph. Not quite the sub hour ride we had hoped for but were pleased to take 7 minutes off the previous club record. Next up we are planning to ride a fast 15 miles on the local A3 course.”
When asked about attempting to gain the BJW 50 and 100M TT Club Records Louisa’s response was “I get ‘tandem bum’ after an hour let alone 2 plus hours”. That said Andy and Louisa haven’t completely discounted attempting these distances next season!
