Club Dinner

Bournemouth Jubilee Wheelers celebrated the year with their annual prize giving dinner at Canford Magna Golf Club. Treasurer Peter Warhurst entertained 50 odd members and guests with tales of his RRA London to Portsmouth & back tandem record ride in 1955. Highlight of the evening though was the raffle; the club secretary could be seen punching the air with sheer delight as his number came out of the hat first. Winners included Lizzy Campbell, Jon Clemas, Carol Tilley, Kev Ridge,Phil Evans, Bob Richardson and Cliff Rowe. The prestigious services to the club award was given to Bill Simmons, in recognition of his promotion of the open 50. Bill organised the event for 20 years and stood down this year after promoting the National Championship race on behalf of Cycling Time Trials. bjw
