  • Mountain Bike – Greg Eastham has been busy racing his mountain bike in recent months, taking part in the South Cross-Country Mountain Bike Series. The u-12 races are around 20-25 mins long and involve technical sections of woodland single-track combined with wide, open fields. Riders need to complete as many laps as possible within the given time, which is normally 8 or 9 laps. Greg is strong through the technical terrain but sometimes lacks a bit of power on the open sections. But after four of the five rounds in the series, he’s currently 6th in the overall in the standings for the u-12 boys. A top ten finish in round three in the New Forest and again in round four near Basingstoke places him in a strong position to secure a high overall finish. The fifth and final round is in East Sussex on Sunday 14thJuly. Good luck Greg!
  • Track – Greg Eastham has also been racing on the velodrome, taking part in the Youth Omnium Series of four track meetings during April and May this year. The first round was in Portsmouth, where he was 3rd overall. The second round in Reading was cancelled due to bad weather and he missed out on the podium when he placed 4th overall at Preston Park, Brighton. But he bounced back to take second spot on his home track at the Bournemouth Velodrome on Saturday 18th May. A top effort! He then placed 3rd overall at the Youth Sprint Omnium at the Bournemouth Velodrome on Saturday 29th June. Enjoying both the endurance events, like the elimination race, and the short, sharp sprint disciplines, he’s developing into a good all-rounder on the track.
